Michaela Kollisch-Singule is a Senior Professor at Upstate Medical University, specializing in respiratory medicine, critical care, and applied physiology. Her research focuses on optimizing mechanical ventilation strategies for injured lungs, particularly through time-controlled adaptive ventilation (TCAV) and the role of expiratory duration in preventing atelectrauma. Her recent work, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and Critical Care, introduces computational and inverse modeling approaches to reduce injurious power and personalize lung protection in ARDS. She also explores biomedical engineering applications, including antimicrobial hemostatic polymer foams. Her interdisciplinary collaborations bridge clinical intensive care with translational physiology and resuscitation science.
