Michael Luhua Wang is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on the biology and treatment of hematological malignancies, particularly mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), leukemia, and lymphoid neoplasia. His recent work includes pivotal clinical trials of targeted therapies, such as acalabrutinib plus bendamustine-rituximab in untreated MCL and the phase 3 SYMPATICO study of ibrutinib plus venetoclax in relapsed or refractory disease. He also investigates mechanisms of drug resistance, including TCA cycle metabolic switches in pirtobrutinib-tolerant persister cells and BCL-2/BCL-XL dual inhibition-induced pyroptosis, alongside real-world outcomes of CAR T-cell therapy.
