Michael C. Heinrich, M.D., is a Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. A leading gastrointestinal oncologist, his research centers on the molecular pharmacology of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), specifically targeting KIT and PDGFRA oncogenes. His recent work includes the phase 3 PEAK trial of bezuclastinib plus sunitinib for advanced GIST, the StrateGIST 1 trial of velzatinib, and the NeoRay phase IIa study of 177Lu-NeoB for GRPR-overexpressing solid tumors. He also develops in vitro models to predict imatinib responses and characterize drug resistance mutations, including novel SDHA and PDGFRA variants.
