Michael A. Davies is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Melanoma Medical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on melanoma biology, targeted therapy resistance, and cancer immunotherapy, with particular emphasis on BRAF/MEK inhibitor resistance mechanisms August his recent work identifies ARF6 activation as a resistance driver and dasatinib as a resensitizing agent. He leads translational studies on neoadjuvant immunotherapy, intratumoral agents like sotigalimab with pembrolizumab, and engineered tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte therapies. His research also investigates melanoma brain metastasis outcomes combining ipilimumab and nivolumab with stereotactic radiosurgery, and cancer-induced nerve injury modulating anti-PD-1 response. He has secured major grants from the NIH and Melanoma Research Alliance supporting work on molecular predictors of brain metastasis and integration of clinical, molecular, and immune features for improved risk stratification.
