Melissa Melough is an Assistant Professor of Health Behavior and Nutrition Sciences at the University of Delaware. She earned her PhD in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Connecticut (2019), following a dietetic internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital and a BS from Cornell University. Her research investigates environmental endocrine disruptors, particularly phthalates and melamine, and their associations with pediatric health outcomes, including adiposity, metabolic syndrome, and kidney function. Recent work examines how ultra-processed food consumption drives phthalate exposure disparities during pregnancy and explores effect modification by oxidative balance on prenatal ozone and child lung function. She received a 2021 NIH ECHO Program award and collaborates with institutions across the US, South Korea, France, and China.
