Maura L. Gillison is a Professor of Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research focuses on HPV-associated oropharyngeal and cervical cancers, head and neck oncology, and cancer immunotherapy. Recent work includes investigating the KRAS-variant and cetuximab in HPV-positive oropharyngeal cancer, genome-wide cell-free DNA end motif entropy as a predictor of immunotherapy response, and circadian transcriptional states in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. She has also explored FOXM1-specific TCR-engineered T cells for non-small cell lung cancer and risk-based HPV vaccination strategies for oropharyngeal cancer prevention. Her contributions span radiation oncology, pharmacology, and epidemiology, with a strong emphasis on translating molecular findings into improved cancer care and treatment outcomes.
