Matthew H.G. Katz is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Surgical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research centers on pancreatic cancer surgery, specifically neoadjuvant therapy response, robotic surgical techniques, and artificial intelligence-assisted intraoperative assessment. Recent work includes a clinical calculator for restaging localized pancreatic cancer post-FOLFIRINOX, an AI model for estimating superior mesenteric artery dissection during robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy, and ISGPS classification of postpancreatectomy mortality. He also investigates molecular characteristics of young-onset pancreatic adenocarcinoma and symptom recovery after upper gastrointestinal surgery.
