Mathew Wedel is a Senior Professor at Western University of Health Sciences. His research integrates vertebrate paleontology, gross anatomy, and morphology, focusing on the axial skeleton of sauropod dinosaurs and synapsids. His latest work documents osteological correlates of respiratory and vascular systems in the neural canals of Mesozoic ornithurines *Ichthyornis* and *Janavis*, and provides the first records of neural canal ridges in Crocodylia and pneumaticity in alvarezsaurian axial skeletons. He also published a census of *Haplocanthosaurus* specimens and analyses of caudal range of motion in *Giraffatitan brancai*.
