Mary J. Kelley is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Oregon Health & Science University. Her research integrates biomedical engineering, biomechanics, and cell biology to investigate the mechanobiology of the trabecular meshwork and its role in glaucoma pathogenesis. Her recent work employs advanced techniques such as 3D traction force microscopy to characterize segmental mechanobiology, flow-dependent traction, and matrix stiffness effects on cytoskeletal dynamics and collagen reorganization in normal and glaucomatous tissues. She has also explored actin-microtubule synergy in force transmission and ROCK/YAP-TAZ inhibition pathways, alongside genetic studies of VEGF polymorphisms in diabetic retinopathy.
