Mark T. Bedford is a Professor and holds the Kenneth D. Muller Professorship in Tumor Genetics at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on epigenetics, specifically the role of protein arginine methylation in cancer biology and gene expression. Recent work includes elucidating the functional requirement for Dicer helicase arginine methylation in siRNA biogenesis and oocyte meiosis, and characterizing acquired resistance to PRMT5 inhibitors in MTAP-null non-small cell lung cancer. He has also investigated CARM1-mediated methylation of PI3KC2α in mitotic spindle dynamics and tubulin autoregulation, alongside studies on poly(ADP-ribose) recognition by RNA-binding proteins. His contributions span molecular cell biology, biochemistry, and tumor biology, with publications in Nature Communications, Molecular Cell, and Nucleic Acids Research.
