Mark D Pagel is a Dallas Fort Worth Living Legend Professor and Deputy Department Chair at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he also serves as Adjunct Professor. His research focuses on developing quantitative magnetic resonance imaging methods, including dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance fingerprinting (DCE-MRF), to assess tumor vascular perfusion and oxygenation in cancer models. Recent breakthroughs include image-guided targeting of mitochondrial metabolism to sensitize pediatric malignant rhabdoid tumors to low-dose radiotherapy, published in Science Advances, and investigations into oxygen-dependent FLASH-RT effects using electron paramagnetic resonance imaging. His work integrates molecular imaging with radiation oncology to advance breast cancer diagnostics and treatment response monitoring.
