Professor of Neurobiology in Psychiatry
Margaret Haney is a Professor of Neurobiology in Psychiatry at Columbia University. Her research focuses on the neurobiology of addiction, with a specific emphasis on substance use disorders, cannabis pharmacology, and the development of pharmacotherapies. Her recent work investigates sex-dependent associations between circulating cannabinoid levels and pain perception during abstinence, as well as the neural encoding of subjective value in choices between drug and non-drug reinforcers. She has conducted clinical trials on oral cannabis for taxane-induced neuropathy and has published extensively on predictors of cannabis self-administration and pharmacotherapy models for cannabis use disorder. Her research integrates clinical pharmacology and behavioral neuroscience to advance addiction medicine.
