Manal M. Hassan, MD, MPH, PhD, is a Professor and Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research integrates oncology, hepatology, and genetic epidemiology to address hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma. Recent work employs GWAS and integrative analyses to uncover germline variants and genetic correlations underlying liver cancer susceptibility and prognosis. She investigates clinical outcomes in metabolic dysfunction-associated liver disease (MetALD) and explores functional variants at multi-cancer susceptibility loci. Her collaborative studies also examine hepatocellular carcinoma risk in Mexican Americans with type 2 diabetes mellitus and bile acid physiology in Wilson disease.
