Mabel Aworh is a Senior Professor at Fayetteville State University specializing in infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and One Health epidemiology. Her research integrates clinical microbiology, veterinary medicine, and public health to track drug-resistant pathogens across human, animal, and environmental interfaces. Recent work includes whole-genome sequencing of multidrug-resistant *Escherichia coli* in Nigeria, ESBL-producing bacteria in municipal wastewater and farm ecosystems, and freshwater turtles as bioindicators of antimicrobial resistance. She also investigates phage-based microbial control and behavior change systems for antimicrobial resistance response. Her contributions have been recognized with the 2026 Excellence in Research award (USD 879,047) for host-pathogen interactions using *Caenorhabditis elegans* and environmental *Klebsiella pneumoniae*.
