Liuqing Yang is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research integrates cell, molecular, and tumor biology to dissect oncogenic signaling and immune regulation in cancer. Her recent work has uncovered mechanisms of ferroptosis in CD8+ T cells that suppress anti-tumor immunity in sickle cell disease, and identified FGFR3-induced PARP1 phosphorylation as a driver of PARP inhibitor resistance in breast cancer. She has also explored the roles of long noncoding RNAs and snoRNAs in cancer metastasis, immune exclusion, and NK cell rejuvenation. Her contributions have been recognized with major funding, including a $1.2 million award for targeting the lncRNA-PIP3 interaction in triple-negative breast cancer.
