Lisa C. Silbert, M.D., M.C.R., is a Professor of Neurology and the Gibbs Family Professor at Oregon Health & Science University. Her research focuses on the neuroscience of aging, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease, employing advanced neuroimaging to investigate cerebral small vessel disease and cognitive impairment. Her recent work includes developing thermodynamic-informational entropic relationship (TIER) models of selective vulnerability to neurodegeneration, characterizing enlarged perivascular spaces in Hispanic and Latino adults, and establishing reference curves for brain atrophy. She also leads translational studies using aging macaques to bridge gaps in perivascular space biology, with findings published in venues such as the Journal of the American Heart Association and Annals of Clinical and Translational Neurology.
