Lei Yu is a High Senior Professor at Rush University. His research focuses on the neurobiology of aging, specifically investigating the pathological mechanisms underlying Alzheimer's disease and related dementias in community-dwelling older adults. His recent work employs advanced proteomics to identify novel proteoforms associated with Alzheimer's pathology, and explores the interplay of mixed brain pathologies, including Lewy body disease and primary age-related tauopathy, on cognitive decline. His 2025 publications in venues such as *Nature Communications* and *Neurology* also examine hippocampal neuronal loss and the link between scam susceptibility and accelerated dementia onset.
