Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology
Lawrence Yannuzzi is a Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at Columbia University, where he is a leading authority on retinal and macular disease. His research focuses on multimodal imaging, including optical coherence tomography, to characterize the clinical phenotypes and natural history of complex chorioretinal disorders. His recent work has established evidence-based treatment guidelines for central serous chorioretinopathy and described novel entities such as Multizonal Outer Retinopathy and Retinal Pigment Epitheliopathy (MORR) and the chrysanthemum phenotype of idiopathic multifocal choroiditis. He has also investigated placoid variant diseases masquerading as age-related macular degeneration and the long-term chorioretinal changes in Boucher–Neuhauser syndrome. A senior professor, his contributions span neuro-ophthalmology, ocular pathology, and visual science, significantly advancing the diagnosis and management of posterior segment disease.
