Lavrenty Gutsev is a Senior Professor at Louisiana Tech University, specializing in materials science, applied physics, and inorganic chemistry. His research centers on the design and optimization of halide perovskites for photovoltaic applications, with a particular focus on lead-free alternatives, interface engineering, and defect passivation in solar cells. Recent breakthroughs include co-passivation strategies for buried interfaces using sulfonate and amine salts, solvent-mediated surface modification of electron transport layers for PbS quantum dot solar cells, and the band-structure-driven design of α-CsPbI₃ ammonia sensors. His work on multiphosphorylated molecules and hybrid self-assembled molecular interlayers has advanced the efficiency and stability of inverted perovskite solar cells, with publications in Energy & Environmental Science, Advanced Energy Materials, and Nano Energy.
