Lauren E. Colbert is an Associate Professor with Term Tenure and Director at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research focuses on radiation oncology, specifically investigating the tumor microbiome's role in cervical and gynecologic cancers, including how microbiome-derived lactate promotes immunosuppression and radiation resistance. Recent work includes ecological shifts in the oral precancer-cancer spectrum, iterative intraoperative 3T MRI-guided brachytherapy for advanced gynecologic malignancies, and outcomes for rare malignancies such as urethral adenocarcinoma and appendicular bone metastases. Her publications appear in venues including Cancer Research, Brachytherapy, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
