Lauren A. Byers is a Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, specializing in thoracic oncology and cancer biology. Her research focuses on tumor heterogeneity, therapeutic resistance, and predictive biomarkers in small cell lung cancer (SCLC), including transcriptomic programs from circulating tumor DNA methylation, antibody-drug conjugate resistance mechanisms, and CT-based deep learning models for immunotherapy toxicity. She has published extensively on multimodal data integration for cancer research and real-world efficacy of novel agents like tarlatamab. Her work is supported by major grants, including a $559,999 award for investigating tumor heterogeneity and therapeutic resistance in SCLC.
