Konstantinos Arfanakis, PhD, is a Professor at Rush University, where he leads research at the intersection of neuroimaging, aging, and Alzheimer’s disease. His work focuses on brain imaging biomarkers, white matter microstructure, and the neuropathological hallmarks of dementia, including limbic-predominant age-related TDP-43 encephalopathy. He directs the MarkVCID2 Consortium, validating biomarkers for cerebral small vessel disease, and investigates how dietary interventions and genetic factors affect cognition across Alzheimer’s biomarker levels. His recent publications span structural connectome integrity, white matter abnormalities, and vascular risk factors, contributing to clinical criteria for dementia subtypes.
