Klaus Früh is a Senior Professor at Oregon Health & Science University, where his research focuses on viral immunology, particularly cytomegalovirus (CMV) pathogenesis and immune evasion. His recent work has elucidated the role of the pentameric complex in congenital CMV transmission using rhesus macaque models, and he has pioneered MHC-E–restricted CD8+ T cell responses as a novel vaccine strategy against SIV. His 2025 publications in *Science Translational Medicine* and *Nature Reviews Immunology* highlight breakthroughs in vertical transmission mechanisms and MHC-E-targeted immunotherapeutics. Früh’s contributions span vaccine development, infectious disease epidemiology, and malaria antigen discovery, with ongoing international collaborations advancing translational virology.
