Keith F. Fournier is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on surgical oncology, specifically gastrointestinal oncology, with a specialization in appendiceal adenocarcinoma, peritoneal metastases, and cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. His latest work includes genomic profiling of appendiceal neoplasms, demonstrating that KRAS inhibition is an effective therapy for appendiceal adenocarcinoma, and identifying goblet cell appendiceal adenocarcinoma as molecularly distinct through large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, and organoid modeling. He has also published on perioperative tumor markers, risk of relapse, and long-term outcomes of cytoreduction with or without heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy for colorectal peritoneal metastases. His contributions span JAMA Network Open, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Cancer Research.
