Kater Murch is a Professor of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley. He earned his B.A. in Physics from Reed College in 2002 and his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley, followed by postdoctoral research in Irfan Siddiqi’s group. His research focuses on quantum measurement, superconducting qubits, non-Hermitian quantum dynamics, and open quantum systems. Recent work includes exploring exceptional-point topology in dissipative qubits, entanglement-assisted probes of Markovian transitions, and developing electron-on-neon qubits. He has received the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship, NSF CAREER Award, Cottrell Scholar Award, and Moore Foundation Experimental Physics Investigator Award.
