Kapil Bhalla is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on leukemia, hematological malignancies, and myeloid neoplasia, with specific interests in oncogenes, pharmacology, cell biology, and therapeutic targets. His latest work explores BET inhibitor-based combinations targeting novel dependencies in MECOM-rearranged AML, overcoming Menin inhibitor resistance using BET proteins and dual BRG1/BRM inhibitors, and the efficacy of BCL-xL degraders in JAK2-mutated post-MPN AML. He has led phase I studies of FHD-286, a dual BRG1/BRM inhibitor, and DS-1594 menin inhibitor in advanced myeloid malignancies and relapsed/refractory acute leukemias, respectively. His contributions span preclinical and clinical research, advancing targeted therapies for high-risk AML and myeloproliferative neoplasms.
