Kaijun Lu is a Senior Professor at Coastal Carolina University. His research integrates environmental chemistry, marine biology, and oceanography to investigate the fate of organic contaminants and the resilience of aquatic ecosystems. His recent work includes tracking photooxidation products of plastic nurdles in seawater, characterizing pesticide and PAH residues in agricultural soils, and deciphering oil matrix binding strength via advanced pyrolysis GC-MS. He also explores ecological frameworks for microbial metabolites in ocean systems and trade-offs in ecosystem resistance to tropical cyclones.
