Junjie Chen is the Pamela and Wayne Garrison Distinguished Chair in Cancer Research, Professor and Chair of the Department of Experimental Radiation Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research integrates molecular and tumor biology to elucidate DNA repair mechanisms, oncogenic signaling, and replication stress responses in cancer cells. Recent breakthroughs include characterizing benzofuranoindoline-bearing heptacyclic fungal RiPPs with anticancer activities, uncovering HSP90’s role in buffering deleterious BRCA1 variants, and identifying USP37-mediated replication fork protection that drives PARP inhibitor resistance. His work also explores soluble E-cadherin’s role in inflammatory breast cancer brain metastasis. He has received numerous prestigious awards and maintains extensive international collaborations in cancer genetics and therapeutic resistance.
