Julie M. George is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research focuses on tumor biology, cancer immunology, and metabolic vulnerabilities in pancreatic and gastrointestinal malignancies. Recent breakthroughs include identifying long-chain sulfatide enrichment as a metabolic target in IPMN-associated pancreatic cancers and mapping ferroptosis-linked metastatic gastric cancer progression. Her work also explores YAP1-driven plasticity in relapsed small cell lung cancer and the impact of gut microbiome metabolites on CAR T-cell therapy responses. She has developed protocols for isolating ascites-derived cells and extracellular vesicles from peritoneal metastases, advancing translational oncology and precision medicine.
