John V. Heymach

John V. Heymach is a Professor and Senior Faculty Member at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he leads research in thoracic oncology. His work focuses on lung cancer biology, tumor immunology, and resistance mechanisms in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Recent breakthroughs include first-line zongertinib for HER2-mutant NSCLC (New England Journal of Medicine, 2026), mechanisms of T-DXd resistance, and KRAS-mutant tumor vulnerabilities such as ferroptosis induction and RBM10 loss-driven immune tolerance. He also explores multimodal data integration for cancer research using foundation models. His research spans pharmacology, radiation oncology, and cancer treatment, with international collaborations advancing targeted therapies and immunotherapies.
