Postdoctoral Residency Fellow in the Department of Medicine
Johannes Melms is a Postdoctoral Residency Fellow in the Department of Medicine at Columbia University. His research integrates oncology, immunology, and cancer biology, with a specific focus on tumor immunology, cancer immunotherapy, and the tumor microenvironment. His recent work has mapped human natural killer cell development in tonsillar tissue and characterized the single-cell and spatial genomic landscape of non-small cell lung cancer brain metastases. He has also investigated neuronal activity-dependent mechanisms of small cell lung cancer pathogenesis and the role of hepatic stellate cells in liver zonation via R-spondin 3. His publications appear in leading journals including Nature, Nature Medicine, Nature Cancer, and Cell, and he has contributed to scalable functional classification of genetic variants in inborn errors of immunity.
