Jian Gu is a Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where his research integrates cancer genetics, genomics, and tumor biology. His work focuses on the genetic susceptibility and molecular mechanisms underlying urological and epithelial malignancies, particularly renal cell carcinoma and breast cancer. Recent investigations have identified genetic variations in the MDM2 gene associated with renal cell carcinoma susceptibility, explored the role of long noncoding RNA MNX1-AS1 in breast tumorigenesis, and utilized spatial transcriptomics to characterize the lung premalignancy-to-adenocarcinoma continuum. His research also addresses resistance mechanisms to PD-(L)1 inhibitors and somatic copy number variations in whole-genome bisulfite sequencing.
