Jeannelyn Estrella is a Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, specializing in gastrointestinal oncology and pathology. Her research focuses on the tumor microenvironment, cancer of unknown primary (CUP), and esophageal adenocarcinoma. She leads clinical trials investigating perioperative chemotherapy combined with immunotherapies, such as atezolizumab and tiragolumab, for localized esophageal and gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma. Her recent work uses gene expression profiling to classify CUP and explores cancer testis antigen expression and immune activation in small bowel neuroendocrine tumors. She also investigates circulating tumor DNA for cancer signal origin prediction in CUP. Her research integrates surgical pathology with translational oncology, significantly impacting therapeutic strategies for gastrointestinal malignancies.
