Jacob Raber is a Senior Professor at Oregon Health & Science University, where his research integrates neuroscience, genetics, and behavioral pharmacology to investigate molecular neurodegeneration and cognitive function. His recent work explores synaptic calcium-activated potassium channel KCNN2 activity in neonatal hypoxia-induced hippocampal deficits, cognitive risk and resilience in diabetes involving APOE ε4 and alpha klotho, and the neurobehavioral effects of second-hand smoke and long COVID-related brain inflammation. He also examines cognition and behavior in neurofibromatosis type 1 and fear memory extinction in Parkinson’s disease models. His research has been supported by a notable award for pharmacological Alk inhibition to mitigate behavioral and cognitive injury in NF1 mutant mice, reflecting his sustained contributions to translational neuroscience.
