Jack Phan is a Professor of Radiation Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on radiation oncology, specifically proton versus photon radiotherapy for head and neck cancers, and the integration of immunotherapy with radiation therapy. He leads clinical trials on de-escalation strategies for oropharyngeal cancer and investigates predictive models for radiation-induced toxicities, such as osteoradionecrosis. His recent work includes a landmark phase 3 trial in The Lancet comparing proton and photon radiotherapy, alongside publications on reirradiation for recurrent head and neck cancer and digital decision-support tools. He collaborates internationally on multispecialty imaging assessments and has contributed to advancing treatment paradigms in cancer care.
