Hyunsoo Hwang is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, where his research integrates oncology, urology, hematology, and radiation oncology, with a particular focus on genitourinary cancers and leukemia. His recent work includes a systematic review and individual patient data meta-analysis on metastasis-directed therapy for oligometastatic prostate cancer (the WOLVERINE/X-MET collaboration), a Phase II study of ibrutinib with venetoclax in relapsed/refractory chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and the development of the CEREBRO clinical risk estimator for individualizing benefit in oligometastatic prostate cancer. He has also investigated antimicrobial resistance in cancer patients, specifically the association between cumulative cefepime exposure and ertapenem non-susceptible Enterobacterales bacteremia, as well as outcomes with subsequent therapies post-enfortumab vedotin/pembrolizumab in advanced urothelial carcinoma. His publications appear in venues such as The Lancet Oncology, Blood Cancer Discovery, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
