Hui Wu is a Senior Professor at Oregon Health & Science University. His research focuses on molecular microbiology, microbial pathogenesis, and infectious diseases, with a particular emphasis on *Streptococcus mutans*, biofilm formation, and the regulatory mechanisms governing Gram-positive bacterial virulence. Recent breakthroughs include elucidating the cooperative SloR-SRE binding to the *S. mutans mntH* promoter and characterizing MecA as a multifunctional ClpP-dependent regulator. His work also explores the epigenetic effects of *Fusobacterium nucleatum* on host behavior and the impact of alternative sweeteners on streptococcal acid production. He maintains extensive international collaborations and has published in venues such as *Molecular Microbiology* and *Science Signaling*.
