Erin K.S. Hicks is a Senior Professor at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Her research focuses on extragalactic and high-energy astrophysics, specifically the formation and evolution of galaxies, Seyfert galaxies, and active galactic nuclei (AGN). Her latest work, part of the Galaxy Activity, Torus, and Outflow Survey (GATOS), uses JWST/MIRI to investigate excess dust heating in AGN narrow-line regions and the coupling-driven excitation of molecular hydrogen in Seyferts. She also explores warm molecular outflows in type-2 quasars and nuclear obscuring dust diversity, contributing to theoretical diagnostics for AGN physical conditions under JWST.
