Helen Margaret Piwnica-Worms is a Professor and Professor of Experimental Radiation Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her research focuses on cancer biology, with a particular emphasis on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), tumor biology, and treatment resistance mechanisms. Her latest work investigates PARP inhibitor resistance in BRCA-mutant TNBC through single-cell multiomics, BRN2-induced ATR/STAT3 pathways, and FGFR3-mediated PARP1 phosphorylation. She has also explored mitochondrial ROS regulation by C15ORF48 in chemotherapy resistance, extracellular matrix rigidity in metastasis via TYK2 mechanotransduction, and fasting-induced intestinal regeneration. Her research integrates cell biology, pharmacology, and radiation oncology to advance breast cancer treatment strategies.
