Heekuk Park is an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Medicine at Columbia University. His research focuses on clinical microbiology, gut microbiome dynamics, and infectious diseases, with particular emphasis on vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus colonization in hospitalized patients and its impact on the gut microbiome in intensive care settings. He also investigates malaria pathogenesis, including artemisinin resistance mechanisms via Plasmodium falciparum Kelch13 mutations and structure-guided drug optimization targeting lysyl-tRNA synthetase. His recent work includes processing-bias correction methods for microbiome-based prediction models and O-glycosylation defects in IgA nephropathy.
