Gulnihal Ozbay is a Senior Professor at Delaware State University. Her research integrates environmental science, marine ecology, and aquaculture, focusing on aquatic ecosystem health, water quality, and climate change impacts. Her recent work investigates bacterial persistence in oysters and seawater, hypoxia modeling in coastal systems, and biodiversity assessment using environmental DNA at aquaculture sites in Rehoboth Bay, Delaware. She has also explored novel ribbed mussel enzymes for lignin deconstruction and the toxic dinoflagellate *Dinophysis acuminata* in benthic sediments. Her latest publications address seafood safety, contaminants, and the intersection of agriculture, food production, and public health.
