Guillermo Garcia-Manero is a tenured Associate Professor and Ad Interim Chair at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on the molecular pathogenesis and clinical management of myeloid neoplasia, particularly acute myeloid leukemia (AML), myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), and chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. His recent work integrates genomic profiling with therapeutic outcomes, including analyses of FLAG-based regimens in core-binding factor AML, triplet combinations of hypomethylating agents with venetoclax and IDH inhibitors, and the impact of mutational landscapes on transfusion responses in lower-risk MDS. He has developed the BLAST survival model for CMML and contributed to international expert recommendations on optical genome mapping and pre-transplant genomic profiling. His studies also address socioeconomic and racial disparities in AML clinical trial access.
