Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Radiology Physics
Grace McIlvain is an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Radiology (Physics) at Columbia University. Her research integrates developmental cognitive neuroscience with brain multiphysics, focusing on the mechanical properties of the in vivo human brain across the lifespan, from adolescence to older adulthood. She employs advanced magnetic resonance imaging techniques to investigate brain motion, cerebrospinal fluid flow, and tissue stiffness, including applications to Chiari malformation and the acute effects of high-intensity exercise on cognition. Her recent editorial work in the *Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging* addresses deep learning reconstruction and radiomic feature robustness. She has published in venues such as *Human Brain Mapping* and *Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience*, collaborating with experts in neuroimaging and neurology.
