Distinguished University and Charles T and Ruth M Bach Professor
Yury Gogotsi is a Distinguished University and Charles T. and Ruth M. Bach Professor at Drexel University. His research focuses on the synthesis, properties, and applications of MXenes, a family of two-dimensional carbides and nitrides, with specific interests in energy storage, electrochemical sensors, and optoelectronic devices. His recent work includes developing flexible, transparent MXene-based sensors, stoichiometric coatings for anode-free lithium metal batteries, and porous MAX phase precursors for efficient MXene synthesis. He has received major grants for exploring novel electronic phenomena in MXenes and controlling defects in their synthesis. Gogotsi collaborates extensively with institutions across the US, Europe, and Asia, including Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and KAIST.
