Gerald Ankley is a Senior Professor at the University of Minnesota Duluth, specializing in aquatic toxicology, ecotoxicology, and adverse outcome pathways. His research integrates environmental toxicology, fish biology, and pharmacology to assess the ecological impacts of organic micropollutants and endocrine-disrupting chemicals. Recent work (2025) focuses on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances in Great Lakes tributaries, linking watershed attributes and land cover to biological effects in caged fish, as well as developing adverse outcome pathways for synthetic glucocorticoids and estrogenic PFAS in fathead minnows. He also contributes to global perspectives on marine endocrine disruption.
