Evan Cohen is a Senior Professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. His research focuses on tumor immunology, breast cancer biology, and cellular therapy, with particular emphasis on metastatic HER2+ breast cancer, inflammatory breast cancer, and mechanisms of immune evasion. Recent breakthroughs include identifying serum S100A8/S100A9 as a risk biomarker for brain metastasis in inflammatory breast cancer, and demonstrating that circulating miR-19a-3p levels correlate with favorable prognosis and anti-tumor immunity in metastatic HER2+ disease. His translational work on plinabulin combined with radiation and checkpoint inhibitors has shown promise in relapsed/refractory Hodgkin lymphoma and other resistant tumors. He also investigates cancer-associated macrophage-like cells and cytokine profiles in obese patients undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy. His research integrates immunology, cancer cell biology, and medicinal research to advance combination immunotherapies.
