Erin Hicks is a Chair and Professor at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Her research focuses on observational and extragalactic astronomy, specifically investigating the physical conditions of active galactic nuclei (AGN) and Seyfert galaxies. Her latest work, part of the GATOS survey, uses JWST/MIRI to analyze excess dust heating and warm molecular outflows in nearby AGN, alongside theoretical diagnostics for interpreting JWST observations of nuclear obscuring dust. She also leads the LUNIS-AGN catalog, which examines emission-line dynamics in circumnuclear regions. Her research integrates high-energy astrophysics, stellar astrophysics, and planetary sciences to advance understanding of galaxy formation and evolution.
