Elinor L Sullivan is a Senior Professor at Oregon Health & Science University, where her research integrates neuroscience, maternal health, and developmental biology. Her recent work examines how prenatal factors—including maternal adiposity, dietary glycemic index, and substance exposure—shape fetal neurodevelopment and child behavioral outcomes. Notable publications include studies on gestational kynurenine metabolites and infant negative affect, as well as in vivo fetal MRI revealing sexual dimorphism in rhesus macaque neurodevelopment. Her research also addresses iron deficiency anemia in pregnancy and substance use patterns during gestation. She has contributed to the HEALthy Brain and Child Development Study and advocates for honoring childhood agency in developmental research methods.
