Peter J. Edmunds is a Senior Professor at California State University–Northridge. His research focuses on marine ecology, specifically coral reef dynamics, thermal resilience, and the impacts of climate change on aquatic ecosystems. Recent work examines the effects of daily temperature range and thermal priming on acquired heat resistance in *Porites* corals, early life stage bottlenecks in coral recovery, and long-term community dynamics across reef habitats. His 2025 publications address coral survival, rarity, and extinction, alongside the ecological consequences of the 2023 Caribbean marine heat wave. Edmunds’ research integrates long-term ecological perspectives with conservation biology, contributing to understanding reef resilience under global environmental change.
