Dimitrios Karamichos is a High Senior Professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. His research focuses on ophthalmology, specifically keratoconus, corneal wound healing, and ocular surface disease, with a strong emphasis on tissue biology and biomedical engineering. His recent work explores sphingolipid signaling in corneal repair, the therapeutic potential of extracellular vesicles and salivary exosomes for corneal epithelial healing, and the development of 3D corneal models using collagen bioink. He also investigates sex-dependent effects of chronic intermittent hypoxia on corneal fibrosis and inflammation. His publications span leading journals including *Cells*, *Pharmaceutics*, and *Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science*, reflecting his contributions to experimental ophthalmology and regenerative medicine.
